چکیده

We investigate low temperature transport in 200 3 200 arrays of GaAs quantum dots in which coupling between dots and electron density is controlled by a single gate. Current-voltage curves obey a power law above a threshold voltage with exponent ,1.5, and show discontinuous and hysteretic jumps in the current, or “switching events.” Multiple switching events result in a hierarchy of hysteresis loops. Switching and hysteresis decrease with increasing temperature and disappear above 1 K. A possible mechanism for the hysteresis involving gate-to-dot tunneling is discussed.

Conductance in quantum wires by three quantum dots arrays

A noninteracting quantum-dot arrays side coupled to a quantum wire is studied. Transport through the quantum wire is investigated by using a noninteracting Anderson tunneling Hamiltonian. The conductance at zero temperature develops an oscillating band with resonances and antiresonances due to constructive and destructive interference in the ballistic channel, respectively. Moreover, we have fo...

Collective transport in arrays of quantum dots

Collective charge transport is studied in oneand two-dimensional arrays of small normal-metal dots separated by tunnel barriers. At temperatures well below the charging energy of a dot, disorder leads to a threshold for conduction which grows linearly with the size of the array. For short-ranged interactions, one of the correlation length exponents near threshold is found from a novel argument ...

CdSe nanocrystal quantum-dot memory

Memory effects in the electronic transport in CdSe nanocrystal sNCd quantum-dot arrays have been observed and characterized. Conduction through a NC array can be reduced with a negative voltage and then restored with a positive voltage. Light can also be used to restore or even increase the NC array conduction. We have studied the switching of the conduction in CdSe NC arrays and found the beha...

Fault-tolerant adder design in quantum-dot cellular automata

Quantum-dot cellular automata (QCA) are an emerging technology and a possible alternative for faster speed, smaller size, and low power consumption than semiconductor transistor based technologies. Previously, adder designs based on conventional designs were examined for implementation with QCA technology. This paper utilizes the QCA characteristics to design a fault-tolerant adder that is more...
